A Volunteer Radio Host Program invites individuals to contribute their time, passion and talent to host radio shows — typically without financial compensation. These programs foster a collaborative and diverse environment, giving community voices a platform to reach thousands of listeners across New York and beyond. No previous radio experience is necessary. Ages 18 and up are encouraged to apply.
Applications are received on a rotating basis. You will receive feedback on your proposal in approximately two weeks following a review by the Nostalgie staff. There are many ways to be on the air — weekly or monthly programs, morning or afternoon shows, performances, or plays for broadcast consideration. No previous radio experience is necessary. Ages 18+ are encouraged to apply.

Welcome and thank you for volunteering your time to Nostalgie New York online radio station. We are pleased to provide your voice, work, and talents with a radio platform. All programmers are required to read and sign the Nostalgie New York Volunteer Program Agreement in advance of becoming a regular contributor to the Nostalgie New York Program Schedule.
Nostalgie New York is an online radio station driven by experimentation with broadcast media and the airwaves. A pioneer of the Transmission Arts genre, Nostalgie New York programs provide access to transmission technologies and support artists and organizations that engage with media as an art form.
As a volunteer programmer I understand and hereby pledge to respect and abide by the following:
To perform in a professional manner at all times when representing Nostalgie New York. This includes my behavior on-air, and when interacting with the public as a representative of Nostalgie New York online radio.
To be responsible for the actions of all guests I invite into a Nostalgie New York airwaves. When broadcasting from a Nostalgie New York virtual studio, I understand that I have the right to ask any person their name and purpose for being in the studios, and that only scheduled guests are allowed in Nostalgie New York virtual studios. I have the right and obligation to ask someone to leave the virtual studio if they have no legitimate reason for being on the premises.
That I have read and acknowledge the Nostalgie New York Dispute Resolution Policy below as applicable to my service as a volunteer.
That volunteers are not employees of Nostalgie New York, and should notify the Station Manager if at any point they no longer wish to volunteer at Nostalgie New York online radio. Likewise, while Nostalgie New York appreciates the support and dedication of its volunteers, it has the discretion to dismiss volunteers at any time.
I understand that failure to adhere to this agreement could result in my suspension or termination from active Nostalgie New York Program status.
In consideration of being permitted to participate in any way as a Nostalgie New York Volunteer Programmer:
I hereby acknowledge that participating as a volunteer (hereafter, "Activities") carries with it certain risks, hazards, and/or dangers (collectively, "Risks") that are inherent and/or associated with Activities. These Risks include but are not limited to hazardous weather conditions, equipment failure, terrorism, and local crime. Volunteer acknowledges that Activities include Risks that can be attributable to negligence of Volunteer, Organization (as defined below), and/or third parties.
I hereby release, waive, discharge and covenant not to submit claims or file lawsuits against Nostalgie New York online radio, its officers, employees, agents, and contractors (collectively, "Organization") from all liability to Volunteer, their personal representatives, legal guardians, assigns, heirs, and next of kin for any and all loss or damage, and any claim or demands therefor on account of injury to Volunteer or property or resulting in illness, permanent disability or death of Volunteer arising out of or related to the Activities.
I hereby agree to indemnify and save and hold harmless Organization from any loss, liability, damage or cost Volunteer may incur arising out of or related to the Activities.
I hereby assume full responsibility for any risk of bodily injury, death or property damage arising out of or related to the Activities.
I hereby acknowledge that the Activities involve the potential risk of injury and/or death and/or property damage.
I hereby agree to comply with all Organization policies and rules, including but not limited to social distancing and hygiene guidelines.
I hereby state that I am 18 years of age or older.
This set of procedures is intended to guide Nostalgie New York programmers and volunteers who wish to express their concerns regarding the station's policies, procedures, and performance.
Timing: In order for a dispute or complaint to qualify for processing under this section, it must be filed no later than thirty (30) calendar days after the date on which the aggrieved condition commenced.
Step One: Nostalgie New York online radio Volunteers, including Programmers, should submit their dispute or complaint to the Station Manager in writing for discussion and action at [email protected]
Step Two: If the issue has not, or cannot be resolved by Step One, the complainant should submit their written dispute or complaint to the Nostalgie New York Executive Director. The Executive Director will alert the Nostalgie New York Board of Directors to the situation, and may choose to convene a meeting with the complainant and relevant parties. The Executive Director shall respond to the complainant in writing with a final decision.
In all instances, a thorough and fair investigation will take place, giving careful consideration to the rights and dignity of all of those involved in a complaint or dispute.
